The Working Group (WG) on Zygomycosis was initially formed under the auspices of ECMM, in 2004. The aims of the WG were to form a European registry, collecting cases of zygomycosis from various European countries. During the period 2005-2007, 230 cases were submitted from 13 countries. The results were initially presented at ICAAC and were recently published (Skiada A, Pagano L, Groll A, et al. Zygomycosis in Europe: Analysis of 230 cases accrued by the registry of the European Confederation of Medical Mycology Working Group on Zygomycosis between 2005 and 2007. Clin Microbiol Infect. 2011 Jan 2-epub ahead of print). From 2008 onwards the WG expanded and it now includes participants from all around the world. It is now an ECMM/ ISHAM WG. The submissions of new cases are done online, at www.zygomyco.net.
